In the good old time (before there were restrictions), I used MTN and then I could say this nice stuff:

All my e-mail (truncated at 150 symbols) is forwarded to my GSM (at least after 17:10)
So, if you want to be understandable, be informative in the first 150 characters (e-mail address and subject included).
Common words, e-mail addresses, URLS are abbreviated.
Quoted (>) lines are removed.

Nowadays I don't need that so much anymore: I've got permanent Internet connection both at work and at home, and the amount of SMS's from e-mails would anyway drive me crazy...
